Lake Leschenaultia full and overflowing

I took a ride to Lake Leschenaultia for the first time in a month or so and was surprised to see how full it is currently, probably the fullest I have seen it. There’s a steady flow of water in from the surrounding wetlands and streams, and a steady flow out over the overflow.

Kids were having a great time at several spots around the shore but particularly the overflow, using nets to see what they could find in the water.

A few photographs of the lake full and overflowing are below.

An almost touristy view of the Hawks Head area of Murchison River in the Kalbarri National Park, this photograph shows the amazing red cliffs and still waters of the gorge during September. People can be seen on the lookout at top right.

Rough Weather at Canal Rocks

I had the opportunity today to photograph some rough weather at Canal Rocks in the south-west of Western Australia. Winds were gusting through at up to 80km/hr throughout the day, making for quite a rough ocean!

I often think I am a person of compromises. I often compromise the perfect photo for one reason or another. In this case over the question of safety. I wonder if it was safe for the people to be standing on the bridge and far side of the bridge when it was common for waves to wash over the bridge a little. If it is common for waves to do that then surely the possibility of a double height wave washing completely over the bridge taking a person with it is not unthinkable and hence not worth the risk? Of course there was a shot I wanted to get from those vantage points, but I chose not to. My loss? We’ll never know!
