The Moon
This page contains a wide variety of photographs of The Moon, photographs I have captured over the years since 1998 when I started my voyage of astrophotography.
The Moon is perhaps the easiest astronomical subject to photograph. It is bright and relatively large. This makes it a common first target for astrophotographers, and a regular one as it often appears nicely positioned with other foreground objects, or in conjunctions with other astronomical objects such as planets and bright stars.
Many of my photographs of The Moon are available for purchase, some at my Astro Photography Australia website.
Check out my other pages of Lunar Eclipses where the moon of course features heavily.

Superfull Moon with silhouettes
One of my first reasonably good quality images of the Moon, this photograph was taken all the way back in 2003.
The Moon frames some silhouettes on a country road, with stars of the Milky Way in the sky also.
The well known star cluster Pleiades (also known as the Seven Sisters) is shown here in conjunction with The Moon. This is a composite image of long and short exposures.
Jupiter has just re-appeared from behind the Moon. To be more precise, the Moon has just moved past Jupiter from our perspective here on Earth.
On the 18th February 2013 The Moon occultated Jupiter, that is, The Moon moved in front of Jupiter. As The Moon slid past Jupiter (from our perspective) Jupiter disappeared behind the dark limb of The Moon. Quite a sight to see!
